Africa: Grace or complicated techniques.
Written by Peter Youngren on March 27, 2009March 27, 2009
My last blog ended with my meeting at the home of Kenya’s Prime Minister, Raila Odinga. A lot has happened since.
Jesus really showed His love for the city of Kisumu. The third night there were so many miracles I don’t know where to start: blind, deaf and mute were healed, tumors vanished and paralysis was healed. There was one story after the other, and there was no end of the celebration. Each evening as I gave the salvation call the entire crowd responded. The counselors were working overtime to get the follow-up material to each one. One night I asked the people, “what is your worth?” In answering my own question I shared, “you are only worth what someone is willing to pay for you.” Then I spoke about the great price God paid for every soul. As I looked across the vast audience, I saw people convulsing in tears as God’s love was revealed to them; this is the work of the Holy Spirit. On the biggest night people were packed for a 100 meters in each direction. As soon as I get home, I will send you a nice photo so you can rejoice in what happened.
Our TV team has been working hard to capture some of the individual stories. Led by our producer, Megen Thurber, they visit in the homes of some of the people touched by God. In the weeks to come those documentaries will be ready.
Wherever we go there is a clash between the message of God’s grace (the unmerited, unearned, undeserved favor of God through Christ), and a host of legalistic mindsets. There are so many prayer techniques and revival and breakthrough paths that I get tired just thinking about them all. One preacher is worse than the other in cooking up complicated systems of blessing. When the people hear the simple but incredibly profound proclamation of JESUS as the one who has done it all and our job is simply to receive from HIM, they can at first hardly believe it. Then the truth sinks in and joy takes over. We are not trying to get God to do anything: we are receiving what He has done. God is not angry with the world because He already punished the world’s sins in the flesh of Jesus. Now it’s time to repent (turn around) from self-reliance and self-righteousness to HIM, who has done for us what we could never do for ourselves. Let me hear from you! -Peter

Wow, Peter… I am so blessed by your work and ministry. Your simplicity in presenting Jesus to the world is so amazing. I just have tears in my eyes when I read what the Lord is doing through your ministry in Africa and world wide. May God richly bless you and your family. I myself have recently become much more conscious of how much God really loves us and only wants us to believe and recieve everything Jesus died to provide for us.
I have learned to cast off fear and simply believe.
Thanks Peter and we will continue to pray for you.

Your heavenly reward will be greaat and kindly overlook us humans if we ever criticize. Love you!

Pastor Peter:
What a simple but profound truth you’re sharing. That’s what happens from having a true revelation from the Source.
The Lord’s been showing me recently how all true ministry flows from Him. It must start with Him, and as we look to Him as our Source, it flows through us to others.

” ... blind, deaf and mute were healed, tumors vanished and paralysis was healed ...”
” ... JESUS has done it all and our job is simply to receive from HIM ... joy takes over. We are not trying to get God to do anything: we are receiving what He has done.”
I want to say, “Keep up the good work!” but it sounds pretty lame for the wonderful things that God is doing through you. So I’ll just say, “Praise JESUS! Praise God! Hallelujah”

Praise God for it is His grace alone accepted in child like faith. It is child like faith that helps us receive!

You are so right about grace versus complicated techniques! Preachers have laid a burden on christians in telling them that they first need to do something before they can be blessed. Such a lie! I am so happy to read that you are bringing the uncompromised Gospel of Jesus Christ in Africa.
It has changed my life in 2005 and still does. Although I was a christian before, I lived with a great sense of condemnation and guilt. After Joseph Prince visited Holland in April of that year, the gospel just blowed my mind!
God is good and gracious!
Peter, I bless you in the name of Jesus Christ! God opens doors for you, because you are lifting up Jesus Christ.
John 3:14
And the Son of Man must be lifted up, just as that metal snake was lifted up by Moses in the desert.
John 12:32
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me

Hi Peter,
Not sure if you remember me. Recently I have tried to keep up with your updates on your mission trips. Meister Eckhar said ” You may call God love, you may call God goodness, but the best name for God is compassion”. I am profoundly blessed and encouraged to see that you have the same compassion for people around the world. May God continue to uphold and strengthen you as you take the ‘Gospel’ and the message of the ‘Miracle Working Power of God’ around the nations.
You, your family and your mininstry are often in my prayers.
Many Blessings.

Pastor Peter,
Thank-you for your faithfulness and the way you portray the gospel of
Grace which is clothed in Love. This is the character of God. This is
what draws people to repentence and a true knowledge of who He is.
I am inspired to carry on serving Him.
Blessings,

Keep up the good work Peter, I still think of you and RoxAnne often. We are long overdue for a barbecue, when you make it out here, we should make a point of catching up. I know you have great faith in God, I just wanted you to know I have faith in you also. Be encouraged, Brother.

Man of God, I love what you have persisted in doing. When you talk about the clash between grace preaching and God-knows-what-else, I understand you. But be encouraged, Pastor Peter, we are winning - we who have got an ever brightening glimpse of the love and grace of God. Isn’t it written that this knowledge of the glory of God shall blanket the earth as the waters cover the sea? We are winning. Grace is the only way to go. Keep on keeping on.
We are with you and will also do our part.
God bless you.

Welcome back Pastor Peter!
Your sermon on Sunday had terrific impact. I have noticed a couple of things over the years at TICC that I would like to comment on.
Firstly, you have led me to spend more and more time meditating upon the Word. I know I am receiving knowledge during this communing with the Lord because during your sermons I often find you “echoing” (sometimes very loudly) the very knowledge I received during the previous week.
This is very reassuring to me, because I know you are receiving this very same knowledge from the very same source. I have experienced this with other evangelists, but mostly with you. (The shepherd’s voice?)
Secondly, I have noticed that this “echo” is always strongest when you have recently returned from Africa.
I am not entirely sure what this means, but I know it is Jesus working in you, and in me. I believe there is more than “echo” to it.
Very much looking forward to your next sermon. I am going to start writing during meditation so I can get more from your sermons. More and more!
Your video clip of the stage collapse was very powerful. It is true evidence of His grace that no one was seriously hurt. I hope your foot is better, and I am praying for the carpenter.
I hope your foot is feeling better.
Matt
Blessings, can you keep alive in your prayers Matt,s 09 prayer Journals 3, and ongoing spiritual prayer Journal, In Jesus christ Name Amen! Thanks

Dear Pastor Peter,
Seeing and watching you is one of the greatest influences on our ministry today, particularly myself.
You still preach the Jesus paul preached….that same Jesus. Thanks for giving to the Lord sir.
You are right…the critics job is the easiest endaevour, they make very bad leaders and followers..we need Men of God…preachers of the Word, not academicians,..Prayerfull pple..then the Signs of His gospel will naturally follow.
From all of us in Chris Onayinka Ministries Worldwide…..WE LOVE U PASTOR PETER!
