Exorcism at Bangkok's Airport

Written by Peter Youngren on September 29, 2006

As if a military coup was not enough, Thailand is once again in the news, this time in regards to Bangkok’s new four billion dollar Suvarnabhumi international airport. According to the London Times, the airport has been haunted by ghosts, spirits and mystical deaths. The official opening, scheduled for today September 28th, has already been postponed a number of times, most recently because of sightings of ghosts. A number of employees claim to have seen the spirit in the form of an old man. During the nine weeks leading up to the official opening, 99 Buddhist monks had been praying for the spirit visitations to cease. The exorcism reportedly ended with 1000 employees present and the spirit taking embodiment in one of the people present. With this the Buddhist monks claim that the matter should be over, at least for now.

It is not all that often that exorcism, demons, ghosts and spirits make the news. Seeing this story made me think about how out of vogue it is currently to even bring up the topic of demons. Charismatic Christians of a little older generation may remember in the 70’s when teachers like Derek Prince, Don Basham, and Bob Mumford made the topic of demons and deliverance popular. Let me throw out a few statements that might peek your interest. I like to hear what you think.

The demonic world is real, but it only operates with one weapon - deception. Satan and all his cohorts has been completely defeated by Jesus’ death and resurrection. In fact according to the apostle Peter’s writing, Satan is only “like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour”. No lion is as harmless as a roaring one. Such a lion has never caught a zebra or an antelope because the roar gives away the lion’s location long before the beast can ever pounce on his victim, an apt description of the devil and satanic powers; all they have is a roar of deception.

How powerful is Satan? To those who have the indwelling Jesus Christ Satan’s deception is null and void, of no effect, unless we give room to the devil. For those who are ignorant of what Jesus has accomplished, Satan’s one weapon of deception can be wielded with quite the effects, causing a range of strange behaviors. In every religion you find that people have problems with the devil. In the case at the Bangkok airport the ones affected are Buddhists. Sadly many Christians claim to have devil problems. I don’t, not as long as I remember the finished work of Calvary where Jesus fully defeated the devil, By walking in the new creation reality of Christ in me, I recognize the devil has been brought to zero (Hebrews 2:14).

I have had the privilege of using the all-powerful name of Jesus on many occasions to cast out evil spirits. Regardless how demonstrative the demonic activity was, it was only a “show”, for the prince of darkness is defeated, and that defeat is enforced in Jesus’ name.

One of the students at World Impact Bible Institute (soon to be re-named Celebration Bible College) told me that she had been attending a church where people so-to-speak saw “a demon behind every bush”. Gradually she described how she lost her joy and confidence and become increasingly devil conscious. Sitting under the teaching at the Bible College, the tables are turning. Once again the devil and his power is shrinking as Jesus is being magnified in her life.

If you are a born again believer you have nothing to fear. In fact one of the ministries of the Holy Spirit is to convict us of the reality that the ruler of this world (the devil) has been judged. We have a Bible College in Thailand, WIBI-Thailand. Pray for the leaders and students. May Thailand and the world, including the church in America discover Jesus’ victory.

Have you encountered exorcisms? Ghosts? Demon-phobia? Keep blogging

Hi Peter:
This is my first time to blog, but I just had to add my 2 cents worth to what you said about the devil. Jesus has TOTALLY defeated him - the only weapons he has left are ignorance and deception.
But there are some things we can do to keep him in his place (which is under our feet).
One is to make sure we always walk in forgiveness. I was reading in 2 Cor 10-11 today, where Paul links unforgiveness to giving the devil an advantage over us.
Unforgiveness is one of the most destructive forces we can unleash on ourselves and on others around us who become impacted by our unforgiveness. No wonder Jesus had so much to say about it!€r€nWe can rejoice in the fact that Jesus has ALL AUTHORITY and POWER (Mat 28:18)and the devil has NONE! Praise the Lord

Hello,
I found the Times article referred to in this posting:€r€n€r€nhttp://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-2376565,00.html

It is eerily familiar to an experience I had years ago, just before I became born-again.
I was working in Silicon Valley (Mountainview California) at a high-tech company. I was working very late there one night under extreme stress. The building was part of an old seminary school (the gymnasium).
I looked up from my screen at one point, and a white-robed figure was standing outside my cubicle. He had long white hair, and seemed to be illuminated from within.
He looked down at me and I saw that his head was an empty skull. He walked down the aisle, turned a corner and disappeared.
The next week, I was fired abruptly from this job. At that very hour, there was a very rare and ferocious electrical rainstorm which flooded parts of the building.
During the exit interview, the firing manager and her assistant got phone calls that tornadoes had touched down simulaneously next to their houses (which were miles apart).
As I walked out of the building, the biggest, most beautiful rainbow I ever saw appeared, stretching from horizon to horizon.
I went home, got on my knees and prayed for my salvation, and dedicated my life to the Lord. I asked to be showed what to do next.
At that moment, a friend of mine from Ottawa then called me in personal distress, and asked me to come and help her.
Before I knew it, I had cleared my apartment into storage, and was racing back to Ottawa on my old BMW motorcyle.
I am still with her to this day. She is now born-again too. I have never seen another ghost since.

Hello… Zechariah 3:2 call my attention the question that Jehova himself said about satan…
is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? (God really amused me)
Luke 4:4-8-12 Jesus reprend satan three time and after that He did not give any importance to him because He (Jesus) has more important issues to deal with. SALVATION of his creation.
The children of God are prepared for battle, call the Precious Blood of the Lamb and the Love of the Lamb and satan flee.
Keep praying for Love, joy, compassion, wisdom, knowledge,of God marvellous WORD and protection of all creature in the world and satan after all is only ‘is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
God Bless You. Until next time and Thank you. T

Interesting topic, I have had some experiences with this.
I had a friend once who told me he was paranoid and losing his mind and he wanted me to pray for him to be delivered. At this time i was informed to the point where i knew that believers have authority over the enemy so i was not scared or anything, and i prayed for him, and he was fine. But this got me thinking when i learned the truth of the fact in Isaiah 54:9-10, which promises that the covenant of peace we received from Jesus would never be removed from us. I thought why then did my prayer and the name of Jesus give this man such peace. Then it hit me that all it really does for someone who is saved is temporarily break the deception. This man believed that a prayer could set him free, and it did because that is what he believed. I heard Pastor Joseph Prince make the comment Christianity isn’t right doing, it is right believing, and it seems that when we believe the right thing, we then in turn do the right thing. The truth for us to believe is he was already free, the only reason the prayer made him peacefull is because we did not recieve the truth yet. And i think we all know that Jesus said you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. (John 8:32)
So really if your reading this and you believe you are being attacked, as Pastor Peter said, ‘if you are a born again believer you have nothing to fear’, know that the truth is the battle is over, our job is to stand in victory. If your unsaved then invite Jesus into your heart, thank him for dying for you, and confess it with your mouth, and you will receive this covenant of peace that will never depart from you, as well as eternal life by the grace of God.
This revelation is so awesome that all we need to do is believe Jesus has already won the battle for us. I still don’t understand though, that some people like to create a fight that is already over. I believe that is a person who wants to have the glory, which Jesus rightfully deserves, and make it seem as if there actions won the fight. No wonder Jesus spoke so strongly against self righteous pride.
That is what i believe and if anyone has any comments i’d love to hear them, I always have room for more truths.

Dearest Friend &
my beloved Pastor Peter Youngren
I thank God for you.
I glorify our Lord Jesus Christ for revealing to you to touch on the most taboo subjects in our society dealing on demonology. By the Spirit of God, this world is gradually realising facts and figures of the devil illuminated in the power of the word of God.
Sadly, even in some of our Churches today have not taken the bold steps to expound on exorcism which leads to the crux of the matter that Jesus Christ has crushed the head of the devil once and for all under his feet. And we have won the victory with him. That in the mighty name of Jesus Christ’s name, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is the Lord of Lords.
To speak of the truth, once I had a terrible countless encounters with the devil himself at the prime age of my adolescence. Having comed from a church backround which shys away on the topic of demons and no practise of speaking in tongues(the church did not believe in the Holy Spirit), neither I had no knowledge of the word of God nor the Holy Spirit to face our adversary, the Satan.
Moreover, in all my life, I only longed to see our Lord Jesus not of course the devil himself.
In those awe days, every wee hours of the day, the night terror(devil) will come and disturb me, causing great fear and even decept me that the devil is greater than our Lord Jesus. No one was able to give me the assurance that Jesus Christ has all the power on the earth and heaven. I have prayed to God about it and got my Holy Bible sitted on my pillow before my sleep. Those were futile. The devil kept haunting me. I cried all day telling God that I only wanted to see Him but not the devil.
By God’s anointing, I have been imparted by the Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ allowed it to happen just as it was mentioned in the Bible about St. Paul’s thorns. Apostle Paul was inflicted with thorns planted by the devil himself. God allowed it to happen so that St. Paul can experience the reality of God’s truth in action. Jesus assured St. Paul that His grace is sufficient for him. After that, St. Paul was delivered. Paul begins writing that he can comfort those who need comfort as he was comforted. That’s God’s ministy plan;blessed to bless!
To glorify our God, Jesus Christ his son, I have shared my experiences about the devil.
I have been imparted of God’s truth that to defeat the Satan in our daily life. Yes, Satan is already defeated by Jesus Christ. But till this truth sinks into our being, the devil tortures us of his lies that we are defeated but not him.
We are to defeat the devil only by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ with His words and with His Spirit. That’s the secret!
Pastor, Peter, please share your experiences in detail in your ministry of our God delivered his people from the chains of the devil.
In that way, our brothers and sisters in Christ can perceive of how great is our God! Amen!
God bless you, your family and your ministries without measure!
-Jason, Singapore
P.S: Please keep in touch with me.
My family and I will support the ministry that God has given you with all our best.

It sounds outragious.Perhaps God let it happen ,to demonstrate the reality of the spiritual world.
May be the prayer of a man of God wuold make people realise the existence and power of God.At last ,they may accept the saving grace.
God bless

Hi! I totally agree with John Hall. Right belief leads to right living. Like what John shared, it is the Knowledge of the truth that sets us free. What is the truth then?
It is that Abba Father loves us so much that HE sent Jesus to die for our sins. We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus because of Jesus’ blood which perfectly cleansed us of all our sins.
Jesus died on the Cross and became the overpayment for ALL our sins.
Before you think I am digressing from the topic, I am saying all these to say we can now rest in God’s new covenant with us, sealed with Jesus blood. This is a covenant of peace.
And because of this covenant, we are all called the sons and daughters of Abba Father. This covenant entitles us to ‘fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].- Hebrews 4:16
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. - 1John4:18
So when we KNOW that we are soooooo loved by Abba. When we are rooted in His love for us. That we know Abba Father loves us as much as He loves Jesus (John17:23). There is no more fear. Because perfect love drives out fear.
Because of this new covenant, WE are now kings and priests in the Kingdom of God because we are in Christ Jesus. The victory is already ours at the Cross. When Jesus rose from the dead, He had completely defeated satan.
The devil has no other weapon. He is like a roaring lion, only roars but cannot bite. He can only try to deceive us into thinking that God wants to punish us at every wrong we do and God does not love us. His only tactic is condemnation. That is why the devil is called the accuser of the brethen.
All we need to do is to rest in His perfect love for us and in His Finished work at the Cross. When the devil condemns, point him to the Cross, to Jesus’ finished work at the Cross. Know the truth that Abba sees us as righteous as Jesus is. Know the truth that a^??there is therefore NOW, NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.a^?? Romans 8:1.
I do not think that our Abba Father will want us, His Beloved children, to be tolerating the lies of the devil in our lives. Abba wants us to enjoy an abundant life, to walk in victory and in the knowledge of the truth that we are all kings and priests in Christ Jesus.

A comment on Zech 3:2 and Luke 4:4-12.
The sharing below are from my pastor’s teaching. But if there’s any error, it is due to my wrong interpretation of my pastor’s teaching and the Word. I am writing this entry to clarify the verses read. It is not to hurt anyone. I welcomed the discussion of any other interpretation of these verses.
One way to rightly interpret the Word is to read a verse in the context. This means that we will sometimes need to read the chapter before it or check with any concordance or bible commentaries regarding the verse. All these resources are available online. One such resource is http://www.blueletterbible.org/. Another is a software resource E-sword which we can download free from E-sword website.
(1) Zech 3:1-3 (New Living Translation).
1 Then the angel showed me Jeshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord. Satan was there at the angel’s right hand, accusing Jeshua of many things.
2 And the Lord said to Satan, ‘I, the Lord, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you. This man is like a burning stick that has been snatched from a fire.
3 So the angel said to the others standing there, ‘Take off his filthy clothes.’ And turning to Jeshua he said, ‘See, I have taken away your sins, and now I am giving you these fine new clothes.
New Living Translation 1996 Tyndale Charitable Trust
In Zech3:1-5, Joshua (Jeshua in the above translation) the high priest of the Israel was under condemnation. Who was condemning Joshua? The devil. The accuser of the brethen was heaping condemnation on Joshua. But Jesus rebuked satan. Joshua is described by our Lord as the branch that was snatched from the fire (punishment). What does that means? It means that Joshua will not be punished for all his sins (iniquities). Jesus has saved him. In the following verse 3-5, Joshua’s dirty garments (which means condemnation) were removed. Jesus then clothed Joshua with clean garments and clean turban. This means our Lord imputes His righteousness upon Joshua. Joshua now stands righteous before God our Abba Father.
So Zech 3:2 was not talking about satan as the brand plucked out of the fire. He was talking about Joshua.
(2) As for Luke 4, the temptation of Jesus, we need to go back to Luke 3. When John the Baptist baptized Jesus at river Jordan, the following happened:
Luke3:22And the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came from heaven, saying, You are My Son, My Beloved! In You I am well pleased and find delight!
My pastor shared that the Holy Spirit amplified this speech, what our Abba Father says about Jesus, for our sake. Abba is telling everyone (which includes you and I) that Abba calls you and I who are in Christ Jesus His Beloved too. Abba is well pleased and find delights in us (who are in Christ Jesus) too. ( Another scripture to support the claim that we are sons and daughters of the Most High God: Romans 8:15
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’)
So what about Luke 4. The devil came to try to rob Jesus of His identity which is Jesus is Abba’s beloved son, in whom Abba is well pleased. So the devil used his old and only tactic: plants accusations and mixes half-truths. He used words like a if you are the son of God?? to try to cast doubts in Jesus.
As for taking back the authority of the earth, it was not time for Jesus to act then. Jesus knew that the authority lost through Adam can only be legally (under God’s own law) taken back when the full redemption of man is carried out—————through the punishment of sins upon Jesus at the Cross. (I am just stating two points and not going through all the verses in Luke 4:4-12.)
The devil is trying to do the same to the believers today by stealing the Word of God in our lives. He does not want us to know that we are so loved by Abba that we are the beloved sons and daughters. He does not want us to know that we have all the power and authority in Christ Jesus legally purchased through the Blood of Jesus.
I agree with Teresa we should not give satan any importance. We should always focus on Jesus. How to do that? Simply by resting in His finished work at the cross and knowing that it is His Blood that qualifies us for His Grace and mercy. His blood has made us righteous and our Abba Father calls us Beloveds in Christ, in whom He is well-pleased.

Hi Pastor Peter,
I couldn’t agree more about victory is in Christ only. I have unfortuneately seen and heard demonics before I became strong in Christ. Like you’ve said satan is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. I was inexperienced and ignorant of his devices. I prayed for healing of a blind man once and he said he was seeing better. I went home and later at night I heard a heavey breathing almost growling next to me. I was afraid but rebuked it by Christ and it left. In a great stress and fear in my life I saw red eyes staring at me but it seemed an angel guarded my bed and I felt calm. Now I know I’ve had deliverence from such and truly can say He is the victor. I needed to see who am I in Christ and if He is in me then He operates through me and Christ cannot defeat Himself. I always remember whom the Son sets free is free indeed! If we see satan inferior to the Christ within us he will never defeat us, in fact we have put the run on him.

This is the first time that I had heard of the story, and I had to search for a long time online to find a version of it that included the excorsism. That fact I find to be quite interesting.
The first time, I was 5 and i was reading a book in my bed before bedtime. And for a split second, this nude colored being-with no head took a stick and poked me really hard in the side then it disappeared. I knew it was real because i could feel the pain from the stick like a minute afterward.
Afterward, I was so scared growing up, thinking that one time this being might return. Whenever I was by myself, i tried to get around other people as fast as I could. One good thing was, my mother told me that if it ever happened again that i could use the name of Jesus and I would be protected.
The devil would torment me in my dreams. I have had countless number of dreams of exorcisms and in my dream I would speak the name of Jesus and these people would experience no change. NOW I KNOW where these dreams came from- the devil- because in reality whenever the name of Jesus is spoken there is power. Change happens.
Also, like my one brother who was being woken up in the middle of the night for a whole week. When I was 16,I would be woken up at same time every morning at exactly 3am. it was weird i couldn’t see the beings when i had my glasses on, but when i took them off i could see their outline in the darkness. For the first couple nights I ran up to my mom’s room. Then finally the third night, she told me that I had use MY authority and tell them to go. I did-as scared as I was-i spoke in tongues and allowed God’s peace to come over me. I put on my Christian music(I wasn’t into praise and worship music yet..hee hee) And a couple days later I went to a youth retreat and went up for prayer.
After that they never happened again. There was one more time- when my daughter was about 15 months old, and i was 23. i had heard about people I knew who had said that early in the morning between awake and asleep, a demon would come and paralyze them and they couldn’t talk or move. They could just lie there. I didn’t know what my thoughts were on the issue, but it quickly changed when it happened to me.
I remember lying in my bed thinking about getting up from afternoon nap, and then all of a sudden it was like i heard someone walk down the hallway at a fast pace. I closed my eyes hoping that i was only dreaming. Then my bed started to move, as if someone was kneeling down on the side.
It happened for a long time, I tried to scream- I couldn’t. I tried to use my tongue to speak the name of Jesus and I couldn’t. But then I had this thought that said that i could just pray in my mind.
Next thing I knew I was speaking the name of Jesus over and over again. I was a little shaken up afterward, but i will NEVER doubt God’s ability to save.
I have had a few experiences with demons, but SO MUCH MORE experiences with God! Almost everyday! Yesterday, twice God provided BEFORE I had the chance to verbalize my need! He is with me EVERYWHERE! Helps me get through rush hour traffic in 10 minutes when it normally takes me 30. I KNOW BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT that when I am faced with problems of ANY kind that i can call on Jesus and HE will help me EVERY time!
I hope these stories encourage you. Don’t be decieved-the name of JESUS has trememdous power, and also that yes there is a devil, and he may show up here and there once in a while, but the Holy Spirit is with us ALWAYS!!!
God Bless xxx
