We Connect People With Jesus
Written by Peter Youngren on October 13, 2006Recently I was asked to articulate the purpose of this ministry in a single sentence. The questioner pointed out that to many organizations this could be a trying, even painful process. It could be difficult for me because I have to consider a wide range of ministries we are involved with: the Celebration Church, World Impact Ministries, Celebrate Jesus International, Celebration Bible College, overseas Gospel Festivals, television ministry and International Pastors’ seminars. I could break down every one of those departments into other areas of activities. For example the Celebration Church is currently in three locations: Toronto, Niagara and Hamilton, each one presenting its own challenges and opportunities.
As I sat back and asked the Lord to help me articulate what He has called us to do in one sentence, I wrote these words: “We are called to reveal who Jesus is and what He has done for the world, and why this matters to every person, every nation and every situation”. Still, that is a sentence of twenty-seven words.
Could I summarize it further? In my heart there rose a brief statement; “We connect people to Jesus”, five words that summarize everything. Whether the Bible College, Gospel Festivals, Pastor Seminars, TV, church, literature, or the blog you are now reading – it’s all about Jesus. Jesus has done something so powerful through His death and resurrection that the enemy of our soul works full time to blind people’s eyes to not see the glorious light of what Jesus has already accomplished for us. We get bogged down in situations, problems and circumstances, looking for teachings and sermons to help us be free from those complexities.
Meanwhile the solution to life’s problems is not found in an analysis or complicated plan to get us out of our dilemma. The answer is found in a revelation of Jesus. What He has done responds to every human situation. Whether marriage difficulties, interpersonal relationship problems, family difficulties, financial challenges, or physical heartaches, what Jesus has done relates to each situation.
Sadly, many have separated Jesus from the everyday situations, putting Him in a separate compartment that deals with eternal life and forgiveness of sins, while what He did remains sadly distant from what happens in our lives minute by minute. We connect people to Jesus, and that connection is not merely for the hereafter, but to deal with every challenge that comes at us on any given day.
In a stadium filled with Muslims, Buddhists and Hindus, or in a church service in the Western world – the only hope to human despair is Jesus Himself. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus in an ever-greater way to you. Then carry this message to others; connect your friends and family to Jesus. Why don’t you send me a testimony of how connecting with Jesus has helped you. Blog to honor Jesus! Peter Youngren

Giant Kudos to Gigi!
She is more than a conqueror and an inspiration
to all of us single mothers.
If there is any way to get this comment to her
please do so on my behalf.
She must know that her testimony is very valuable to other women like me, who are here to do more than just ‘keep on, keeping on…we must move along.’ in a much more active arena if we are going to connect others to Jesus.
What do you think pastor Youngren? your views and feedback on this issue would also be of great benefit to me.
Thank you, and God’s Blessings with you always,
Claire.

hello Pastor Peter Peter JR.
I have a very serious and important issue to discuss with you gentlemen - It is about the Holy Spirt and the ‘speaking in tongues’ as reported by Gigi in a previous blog.
My contention is this P & P: From where does the Speaking in Tongues of which I was a witness on many occasions at your Church come from???? IS IT REALLY FROM THE MANIFESTING OF THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT OR MY FEAR THAT IT IS NOT GOD INSPIRED BUT RATHER FROM MORE NEFARIOUS ENTITIES. BELIEVE ME, WHEN I SEE PEOPLE SPEAKING UNINTELLIGLE THINGS AND THEY THEMSELVES DON’T KNOW THE INTERPRETATION OR TRANSLATION AND IN ADDITION I HEARD FROM OTHER CHURCHES AND SOURCES THAT THESE EXPRESSIONS ARE NOT KNOWN LANGUAGES ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.
I UNDERSTAND THE BEAUTIFUL GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT OF WHICH OFF MY HEAD IS HUMBLENESS, KINDNESS, PERSERVERANCE, LOVE, JOY, ETC. ETC. AND SPEAKING IN TONGUES AS BEING THE VERY LAST ONE. REMEMBER WHEN WE ARE TOLD TO ‘EXAMINE THE SPIRITS’ CAREFULLY.
THIS IS THE ONLY CONCERN I HAVE HONESTLY SPEAKING WITH YOUR CHURCH OR ANY OTHER PENTECOSTAL CHURCH. WHAT AM I TO DO?????
I ALREADY THOUGHT OF LEAVING THE CELEBRATION CHURCH BUT I DON’T WANT TO LEAVE UNTIL YOU EXPLAIN THE SPEAKING OF TONGUES CONTROVERSY.
Sincerely,
ANNA DI PALMA

I wanted to respond to Anna’s question if its okay with her. I know in the past I also had trouble about the speaking in tounges until I realized it was a way the Holy Spirit of God uses to comfort us in our deepest recesses of our being. In James it talks about the tounge that it needs to be bridled like a horse . Notice how like the previous writer some people use it as a tool for destruction. If God can arrest the tounge by controling it to speak through it in an unknown tounge other than your own, what a testimony of a God controled life. If you are in Christ and you know it begin to trust Him with one of the things thats not trustworthy in our life-our tounge. If you walk with Him daily and entrust your whole self then He will stir up the gifts of the Holy Spirit one is the comfort of ministering to you in unknown tounges. Why I believe so, it was in the New Testement believers an evidence that the full power of the Holy Spirit has been released in your life. If your tounge can be directed to a language unknown to you (alot are known somewhere in the world)then you’re not manufacturing a message from God yourself. Its really about trusting God that He is really speaking through your tounge to edify you and search your heart for things that cause deep hurt and helps you to release them. The devil would like you to believe its strange and weird and authored by him so you’ll fear it and not receive it as the gift of comfort it was intented to be. As you trust in God ask the Lord to make straight any message that would come and He will, He’s done it for me. Its a normal part of a christians walk but not everyone has to participate, no condemnation, but its like having desert its pleasant to the tounge and empowers you to a greater level in God. Hope you don’t leave Anna, God has great adventures waiting for you at TICC!

Greetings, pastors Peter & Rosanne:
For one reason or another I have been unable to establish regular attendance at TICC. My triple bi-pass didn’t help matters.
It’s really ironic: the day I had my heart attack, was just after setting us up with a Rogers package that would give us access to the internet.
Once I could sit at the computer long enough to accomplish something, I started building my web page—I now have three, and recently joined the world of blogging.
I am finding more opportunities to reach out and minister to spiritual needs on the blogs; it’s a place where people go to get feedback, and to bare their souls.
I can send them to my web site if they are hungry to read a real Road to Damascus experience; I have three pages linked, where I can use my art archive, and writing to touch their hearts. I’ve included my Christian cartoons (such as I have right now), and my Illustrated Manuscrips in my later works. It is one way I can spread the word. And they show great on the computer.
Lately I’ve wondered why the Lord allowed the doctors to revive me on the table; as life just seems to go from rotten to worse: we lost mom a month after I got out of the hospital; whe was the one who helped me make ends meet. Even now we are in danger of losing out internet service, but if I have it right and this is how the Lord is willing to use me to be of service, then I have to trust that he’ll make a way, where there is no way; to keep me on the air.
I miss my ministry with Nancy, John & Libby, and I am starting to look forward to having a timely word in response to someone reaching out.
Closing with fond regards,
your sister-in-Christ,
Pat

I was going through the blog responses and couldn’t help but notice how the blog itself proved its own truth. The blog was all about conneceting to Jesus and the response was totally diverted into other aspects of christianity . Isn’t it so typical of us beleivers. Salvation was all about Jesus & his body but the body is busy with non essentials.
For me Pastor Peter My Lord became real to me in the aspect of his righteosness. No longer is it head knowledge for me it has been revealed to me deep within & Praise God , gone are the days of guilt and sin consciousness Halleluyah!! And now I am only seeking his sufficiency and his reality in other areas of my life and I know he always fills a hungry heart. My heart felt thanks to you Pastor Peter for being obedient to spearhead this revelation and I honour you for that. Looking forward to continued meat from you…

Dear Pastor Youngren,
‘We connect people to Jesus!’ A high and holy calling! May you continue to do this and all your partners and church members until Jesus returns again.
Jesus told his disciples that it was harder for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of Heaven than it was for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. Hopefully,as we get closer to the return of our Lord, those of you on the frontline for Jesus {Celebrate Jesus International) are showing those rich in this world’s goods a higher call of riches. Those who truly believe and are connected to Jesus have the real riches.
My testimony is very personal but shows that God wants us to connect. All I ever wanted was to be a wife and mother. I married my highschool sweetheart. He was the president of the student council and I was the secretary. We had one daughter when he was ingraduate school for internal medicine in Boston. We moved to a beautiful Ontario town of Orillia. After supporting my husband through medicine at U.of T. We were settling down and the Doctor and his wife would raise a big family! He worked hard. General practise meant house calls in those days and we hardly saw each other. Mumps Orchitus hit him that first summer that he supported me! The verdict was poor! No more children! We waited two years. No! Jesus told me’ Who better to adopt than you who wanted so badly to have a big family?’ We had three adopted children ,two girls and finally a boy! Life was great! My last parent my mother died. The doctor left me for his receptionist( a nurse) I couldn’t just sit there and cry! I had four little children between the ages of two and nine years! Jesus got me a High School teaching job in the telephone city{Brantford} The father and Doctor married his nurse. I worked hard. Eventually,I married a widower who taught Math. Happiness? No! It turned out he was an alchoholic. I went yo school to teach with black eyes to be teased .. ‘Did you run into a wall?’ Twice, I endured a cracked breast bone. The Doctor at he hospital asked,‘Are you going to charge him?’ No! ‘Well, then get yourself to safety!’ Two marriages down the tubes for the girl that just wanted to be a wife and mother. I prayed my way to safety but lost my teaching job in relocating. When the last child was out on her own, I was baptised in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues alone in my condiminium. There is more but Pastor Youngren,I agree….
The only hope to human despair is Jesus himself.’ That is the true riches!
