Have you ever struggled with faith?

Written by Peter Youngren on June 18th 2006

Have you been on the treadmill of faith? You are running as hard as you can in your pursuit of faith but not getting anywhere. Could it be that Christian preachers have made faith into something we manufacture by efforts of prayer and Bible study rather than a gift of God?
A lot of people have told me, ‘Peter, my faith is just not working’. That is the reason for my latest book; ‘Great Faith for Great Miracles’. I highlight the only two individuals to whom Jesus ascribed ‘great faith’. Real faith that produces real miracles may be something greatly different then we thought it was. You may be surprised what we learn from those two.

Have people told you that you did not have enough faith to receive the blessing or miracle you desire? Has faith become an area where you feel put down, second-class, and inadequate? Take courage, I have never met a person whose faith is good enough, or a preacher of faith who him or herself could produce the faith that according to Jesus would move mountains. There is only once source for that kind of faith - it is Jesus Himself. If you struggle with faith I want to hear from you. If you read my book and it helped you, send me a testimony.

The key to the miracles we see in Gospel Festivals around the world is not our ability to manufacture faith; it is the faith of Jesus. We operate just like Simon Peter who attributed the miracle of the lame man walking as ‘faith that works through Him’. Like Paul we recognize that we are dead from our self and alive unto Christ, and the life we now live ‘we live by the faith of the Son of God.’ Jesus is the source of all the faith you need.

Let me know your thoughts.
Keep blogging,

Peter

This revelation on faith is amazing it has set me free
from strainning and striving from my own self effort, and has allowed me to enter into his rest.
just one question for you Pastor Peter how do you know when you are operating in this gift?.Lester Summeral has said that you have faith for miracles and money. Please describe what happens when the gift of faith is operational?

Thank you for writing your blog. Your messages are wonderful and I thank God for how well you communicate the gospel. I have been trying to understand the gospel better and better since I first accepted Jesus in 2002 and I believe you are one of the best communicators of the LORD God’s message. You are right, America NEEDS to hear the gospel. I love you and your ministry and thank Jesus for it. sincerely Matt

IMO, this gift of faith is always operational. Faith isn’t an ethereal commodity we strive for - faith is a person and His name is Jesus. Jesus is our/your faith and if you have Jesus you have in you the faith to move mountains at all times.

Its funny how we christians after simply beleiving in Jesus to get saved subtly get into the deception of leading the christian life by our own efforts. Jesus being the author & finisher of our faith only requires us to labour to enter his rest. What a revelation it was for me when I actually meditated on Hebrews chap 3 & 4. Halleluyah!! The Lord has always been faithful in raising up people such as you Pastor Peter to bring his body back to the cross , to teach revelation knowledge as to who we are in christ. Everytime we listen to your preaching it seems like another layer of religion just peeled off and we come back to the freshness of the gospel. Well only now the verse in John which says Greater works shall you do falls in perspective as a drop or mustard seed size of his faith is enough for the greatest of miracles. Praise the lord!! What a saviour we have. I can sing of his love forever…...

Dear Pastor Peter,
I was tremendously blessed by one of your sermons about how JESUS fulfilled the biblical prophecy when GOD prophesied in HIS WORD that THE SON OF MAN would bruise the head of the serpent(the enemy of our souls )and the serpent bruise His heels. As JESUS walked up Golgotha’s Hill or place of the Skull it brought to my remembrance of what a Faithful God I serve WHOSE PROMISES ARE YEA AND AMEN.€r€nI thank yoy for the insightful revelation that 2000 Years Ago , JESUS came to achieve what no other person in the human history can do. I will love THE LORD WITH ALL MY HEART MIND AND SOUL BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVE ME. AMEN.THANk YOU SO MUCH PASTOR.MAY THE LORD KEEP YOU IN HIS LOVE and grant you His Wisdom,POWER,Anointing and Protection even as you preach HIS WORD. HALLELUYAH.

I’ve just attended your festival in Bali. It was wonderful to see many Hindu and Moslem friends got healed along with the Christians. But I’m wondering why haven’t you come to Jakarta, or are you coming?
True, the Gospel is simple, yet can save and work miracles!

Hanny, Mr.

If we really believe the gospel which is defined in Gal 2:20, ‘...it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me,’ then we should NEVER ask the question how much faith do we have, nor ever entertain the thought that we lack faith because we died and it is no longer we who live but ‘in Christ we live and move and have our being’ (Acts 17:28).
Rather fixate your mind on Christ in you and ask yourself, ‘How much faith does Christ in me have?’ This is how much faith YOU have now in Christ! For ‘in Him you live and move and have your faith being!’ This is the miracle of Salvation - Christ the Author of Faith Himself came into your life as your salvation, power, authority, victory, life and as YOUR faith! Christ in us is all our faith, all our power and our all in all! Christ in us has ALL faith -in Him we have all faith. ‘As Christ in us has all power and all faith so are we in this world in Him!’ Our flesh fights this new creation reality but this is how our Father continually sees us in His Son Christ Jesus - as having all faith. This is not a feeling - this is our new creation reality in Him.
The next time the devil accuses you of lacking faith, respond by saying, ‘Can Christ in me ever lack faith?’ ‘As He is, so are we in this world. Point the defeated foe to the Author of Faith Himself living and abiding in you Who cannot lack faith - EVER! In Christ, we are not trying to get saved, trying to get more power or trying to get more faith when Christ in us already has all power, all faith - and He has already made us fully saved IN Him by His Blood. Hallelujah!

Hello Peter, I thank God for you and your dad. My search is over. yesterday, we were at Ontario Place when suddenly my younger son started to have stomach pain. Because of your teachings on ‘Jesus is Faith’ I was finally able to pray the right way and the result was immediate. My son enjoyed the next six hours at Ontario Place. Thanks a lot, the pressure is now off from me to pleased and pray my best to get result; which i was not getting anyway.

Hello Peter,
I thank God for your show on Mondays on Daystar.
I have great need for your insight. I am currently involved in a new local fellowship & am part of the leadership. I have a disagreement with our Apostle in the doctrine of Grace. We have been listening, during our home group time, teachings on Obeying God and the teacher gave reference to Saul in the OT and Cain and how they disobeyed God and how this brought the judgement of God on them. The teacher went on to say that if we as believers disobey God we bring a curse upon us. I totally disagree because Jesus was made a curse for us as stated in Galatians 3. I believe there are consequenses to sin but my Apostle agrees with this teacher, saying that we walk out from the New covenant when we sin & that we lose our protective covering from God. I agree that we can give satan access in to our lives when we sin however, this teaching seems so against what Paul says in Romans about our justification by faith and starts to become a performance based religion. This greatly disturbs me that this doctrine of ‘perfomance’ is being espoused by my Apostle and am concerned if I should be involved there. He is also extremely involved in the Word of Faith teachings which I agree with for the most part but starts to become performance based also because if you don’t confess the correct things you’ll reap what you confess etc… Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Some how It’s seems as if Abraham pleaded and begged God for a land for him and his seed. Many many years of hanging on to his desire, and holding it up before God , before God heard him and answered his prayer, at least this is what some teachers of faith would have us beleive. The Truth is , this wasn’t Abraham’s desire at all. He was enjoying life with his family and extended family, when God came to him and said come I will show the land I will give to you and your seed. It was God’s plan not Abrahams. Now If God came to me instead, and I know that He is able to perform what He says, it wouldn’t take a lot of faith on my part, I be packing my bags and heading for this land. Do you see it, mustard seed faith. I’d have to have a great faith to beleive the same thing from a very poor person, or not be very smart. Our faith is important, but it only works, when we see want Jesus has all ready done for us. Jesus said have the faith of a little child, I have children and I had trouble with this , until God showed me. He said ’ when you go to the mall and your kid whine and cry for candy, do they get it. I said not always. He said ’ if you came home and told them get your coat’s on were going to D Q what they do, I said they’d be racing for the door ,because they know I’ll do what I say. Peace Tom
