The Mighty Baptism of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is Your Helper and He empowers us to reach the darkest, most “impossible” places. Next is Ranchi, India… together we will harvest souls and personal blessings from Jesus!

Dear Friend,

I’m writing to you about the mighty baptism of the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised to every believer. Here are two absolutes:

1. When we were born-again the Holy Spirit came to live inside of us; we drank from the fountain of Living Water.

2. When we are baptized in the Holy Spirit that Living Water comes out of us like a flowing river; the Holy Spirit comes up on us.

You could say; salvation is Jesus Christ in us, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit is Jesus’ life flowing through us.

When Paul asked the believers if they had received the Holy Spirit since they believed, they answered, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” (Acts 19:2)... A few verses later we read;

“And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.” (Acts 19:6)

Here are some important insights:

  * Jesus forbade ministry without the baptism of the Spirit. (Luke 24:49)

  * The baptism of the Holy Spirit was the gateway to supernatural ministry. (Mark 16:15-20)

  * You don’t need to wait for the Holy Spirit to come; He is already here, ready to show up in your life. (Acts 2:38-39)

There are four key words – “baptized”, “fell on”, “poured out on” and “endued” – that really show us what the baptism of the Spirit is all about.

“Baptized”: The word means “immersion” or “burial”, so the baptism of the Holy Spirit is when we are immersed into the Spirit of God.

“Fell on”: This word literally means to “embrace”, just like the father fell on the neck of the prodigal son. It can also be translated “press” or “throng”, just like people thronged around Jesus. The baptism of the Spirit is God’s Spirit falling on us.

“Poured out on”: It means to be “spilled” or “shed”. Imagine a pitcher of water being poured out on your head.

“Endued”: This means to “be clothed”. You don’t put your clothes in you, you put them on you, and the Holy Spirit comes on you like a coat.

All these words give a clear picture. When we are saved the Holy Spirit comes into us, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit is when we come into God’s Spirit, we are immersed into a new, supernatural life.

Jesus said, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me… to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

When I was first born-again, I loved the Lord, but I was timid, afraid to speak the name of Jesus. If His name came up in a conversation, I would excuse myself.

Everything changed a couple of years later, when I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Suddenly I became bold. I published my first magazine, “The Jesus Bulletin”, when I was sixteen years old, and made it available to people all over the city. I was sharing Jesus on the streets, in parks, churches and in my High School.

John the Baptist prophesied that Jesus would baptize us “with the Holy Spirit and fire” (Math. 3:11), and that fire had now come to my life. The baptism of the Holy Spirit changed everything.

I wrote to you a few weeks ago about the 7 upcoming Great Gospel Campaigns. World Impact Ministries has conducted well over 300 international Gospel Campaigns and people may ask, “Why do you keep going?” The answer is that the same fire of the Holy Spirit that touched me as a teenager and changed me, is still with me… and that same Spirit and fire is on you.

Many refuse to talk about the baptism of the Holy Spirit; they think the topic will cause disunity or turn people off. I have found the opposite, when I speak on the baptism of the Holy Spirit, great numbers of people are saved.

Our next Gospel Campaign is in Ranchi with almost 2 million people, one of the most unreached areas of India; the majority are Hindus, then Muslims, Sikhs, and then finally there are just a few Christians. God will help us together to make history in Ranchi.

Right now we are committing funds to the Ranchi Campaign; $120,000 is critically needed. We don’t have this money, but we do have a vision from God, and thank God I have friends who care, just like you.

This month, please sow your very best gift for the Ranchi, India, Gospel Festival!

Ask also for the “Mighty Baptism of the Holy Spirit” -album (3 CDs). I think you will agree that these 3 hours of teaching are among the best you can possibly receive on this vital topic. With the Holy Spirit living in you and flowing through you, you have the very life of Christ.

I thank God for every Partner. We call those who participate every month “VIPs”, which means “Very Important Person”, but to me it also means “Visionaries in Partnership”.

This is a good time to shout, “I’m a VIP! I’m a Partner in the Gospel! We are preaching Jesus around the world, and now I’m participating in the Gospel invasion to the unreached people of Ranchi, India! I’m ready for a harvest in India and a harvest of blessing in my life!”

I look forward to hear from you. Thank you for your participation this month. I pray for you today.

Love in Jesus Christ,

Peter Youngren
