Are you suffering? Do you struggle because of sickness? Are you facing limitations due to pain or illness? The Bible gives a clear record that God heals ordinary people….and He is willing to heal you.

Healings happen because God loves you.

Everything God does is congruent with His love. God cannot deny himself. For God to stop loving, He would have to stop being God. To understand God’s will for healing we must look at God’s nature; who is God at the core? The answer is that GOD IS LOVE!

Jesus healed all who came to Him.

One of the ways that Jesus expressed God’s love is that He never refused to heal. He never suggested to anyone that it was not God’s will to heal. Healing was a priority in Jesus’ earthly ministry, and what Jesus started 2000 years ago continues today.

When Jesus healed a man whose hand was withered, religious leaders threatened to kill Jesus. In response, Jesus did not exercise restraint in His healing ministry, which would have been politically correct. We read, “And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all (Matthew 12:15).

When the crowd pressed around Jesus, trying to touch the hem of His garment, it says that “…as many as touched it were made perfectly well” (Matthew 14:36b).

Jesus’ willingness to heal is again demonstrated in Luke 4:40. Notice especially the words, “every one of them.”

“All those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them” (Luke 4:40).

Notice the word “all” in the following verses:

“And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all, [Luke 6:19].

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38).

“Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people”, (Matthew 4:23).

Jesus accomplished the Father’s will.

To know the will of God we must study what Jesus did, for He said; “I do not seek My own will, but the will of the Father who sent Me.” (John 5:30).

More than half of Jesus’ ministry was healing the sick and casting out demons—clear evidence that God’s will is to heal. His will is unchangeable; what He wanted 2000 years ago, He wants today.

Jesus stated His willingness to heal.

Most of the people Jesus encountered simply assumed that He was willing to cure them. Only one man, a leper, questioned Jesus’ willingness, and Jesus gave Him a definitive answer; “ Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed”, (Mark 1:41).

God is no respecter of persons. If He was willing to heal the leper, then He is willing to heal you.

This account underscores what I mentioned earlier; healings happen because God is love.

Notice the sequence. First Jesus was moved with compassion, then He stretched out His hand and touched the leper and finally He said “I’m willing”. The healing started with compassion.

Healings continued after Christ’s ascension.

Notice that “all” were healed in the post-ascension account in Acts 5:15-16: “They brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.”

The cross proves God’s will.

We can be absolutely sure that God’s will is for everyone to be saved, because Jesus carried the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:19). He is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29), and His blood is the propitiation (atonement) for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2).

If God’s will was not salvation for every person, why would Jesus have taken all sins – past, present and future – at the cross.

Similarly, Jesus carried every pain and disease. Matthew writes, “They brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah, saying: ‘He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses’” (Matthew 8:16-17).

If God’s will was not healing, then why would Jesus have carried every sickness in His body?
